Dudeism, Second Life and Anime?

“Scan our own minds! Master them! Upgrade them! Back them up…what? you didn’t back up your brain? Well that’s just plain foolishness…Everything will be real and virtual…The World will be yours” – Dr. Steel

I guess first and foremost I should define what I mean by “The Wired”; the idea was of an ever-developing, evolving virtual world similar to the real world’s idea of the future of the Internet in the early 2000s, as used by Chiaki J. Konaka for his 1998 psychological techno-horror “Serial Experiments Lain.”

One of the major subjects of “Serial Experiments Lain” is family, God/faith, self-identity, and memories in a world of virtual communications and communities.

Well, it would so happen that a friend of mine decided to ask me if I would help him host an event on Second Life, a 20-year-old 3D virtual world.

Now I hadn’t visited Second Life in a while due to a falling out I had with a few people I used to play with, but I decided I’d give it another go.

After the first time, it sort of became a recurring thing; every week, a group of us would visit different places on Second Life and have some meaningful deep chats, not the simple shit-posting kind of talks we had been used to on Discord and other platforms.

Over time, one member of our group decided to create a music channel that would stream into Second Life using the name “Cyberia” after the Night Club from the “Serial Experiments Lain” series; sadly, I can’t remember who exactly gave me the nickname of being the “Dudeship of The Wired” but it was March 5, 2022, when the topic of me watching The Big Lebowski the following day.

You see, there is a whole philosophy based on the movie and even a registered religion that I’ve used to help people over the years. Well, it would so happen, though the title of “Dudeship of the Wired” just stuck with me.

The next thing I knew, I had all the proper paperwork, created a proper Second Life avatar for my new title, had the domain name, and we’ve even started debating if we should create a digital library or temple.
